Rehabilitation of the 3 km of Rice Lake Drive between County Roads 28 and 9, which functions as “mainstreet” through Bewdley, has now been completed, with the addition of a multi-purpose lane.
At what cost?
The cost of the project was $3,000,000 with two thirds funding from Build Canada and one third from the Township.
New parking and new parking by-laws
A parking lot to the south east of the village has been created for vehicles and boat trailers – follow the Green ‘P’ parking signs. Lighting in the parking area will soon be installed. Some are already using the new parking area which is good as it takes these vehicles/boat trailers off the other streets in the village. The township has passed a ‘No Parking’ bylaw on Rice Lake Drive north from Main to Cavan on both sides of the road.
Addition of multi-purpose lanes
A multi-purpose lane was constructed for walking and cycling in the good weather and snow storage in the winter depending on snow fall.
Improvements at the public boat launch
Work will also be done on the public boat launch to place gabion stone alongside the existing ramp once approval from the Trent Severn Waterway has been received.
