The 407 ETR is an express toll route that bypasses Toronto. Whether you are coming from western Ontario to our area or from the U.S. you can access the 407 ETR by following the signs as you approach the Greater Toronto Area. Upon entering the toll route, a licence plate recognition system sends a video image of your plate to the billing system. The plate owner receives a bill in the mail. The cost per km will depend on the time of day you use the ETR. For frequent travellers, transponders are available to reduce usage costs.
